Marie lives alone on the Normandy coast with her 16-year-old son and makes her way through life with odd jobs. Every now and again her ex-boyfriend calls on her but above all she is worried about Guillaume who plays truant, hangs around with dubious friends and does crooked things. He takes no notice of her and treats her badly. Without compromise, the director shows the development of the relationship between mother and son and their mutual falling out of love. She is supported by impressive actors: Mathilde Seigner as the overburdened mother, the young Kacey Mottet Klein as the bitter rebel and Pierfransceso Favino as the touching ex-boyfriend.
