17-year old Lea lives with her mother in a remote youth-hostel which they are preparing for the new season. Up until recently, Lea lived with her father in the city.  But now, it is just Lea and her alienated mother, who live alone in the big house. The teenager dreams of distant places, of meeting people, and of adventures. Her mother, instead, holds on in fear of loosing her daughter. One day, a boy Lea’s age arrives at the hostel, and he immediately arouses her interest. When Lea finds out that he is a runaway, an idea becomes a plan. A film about being young, about growing up, and about the desire of being different from one’s parents. 

Director's Biography:Gütay, born in 2000 in Gifhorn, is a writer, director, cinematographer, and editor. Since 2019, he attends the university in Hildesheim. IN MY SHADOW is Gütay’s feature film debut, he wrote the screenplay aged 17, shot the film while still in school and funded it through mini-jobs.
