The 35th Braunschweig International Film Festival begins with a symphonic premiere in the Großes Haus of the Braunschweig State Theatre. In collaboration with the Braunschweig State Orchestra and Munich Film Museum, the festival will open with the definitive restoration of the expressionist classic THE GOLEM, HOW HE CAME INTO THE WORLD. And for the first time in over 90 years, Hans Landsberger's premiere music, long considered lost, will be performed in a large symphonic orchestration.

The Prague ghetto in the 16th century. To protect his community, Rabbi Löw creates a powerful clay figure, the Golem, and breathes life into it with magical powers. But when Löw's assistant wants to misuse this artificial human for his own purposes, the golem runs amok and sets the city ablaze. Who can stop the Golem?
