The ”Blue Note Records” label can look back on an almost 80-year-old history in which it shaped the Afro-American music from bebop to soul jazz and hip hop. Like no other, the name ”Blue Note” stands for the connection between freedom and the art of improvisation. Sophie Huber`s documentary invites us to a diverse foray through the eventful history of the label and, apart from legendary ”Blue Note” Look & Sound, brings above all personal experiences of the artists to the fore. Musical highlight: the film team is allowed to accompany an ongoing recording session and thus cast an exclusive look behind the scenes of the work of the label.
