Tomasz Komenda (Piotr Trojan) is unexpectedly arrested one day in 2000 and charged and convicted of rape and murder on New Year's Eve 1996/97, although twelve people can give him an alibi. Desperately, his mother fights to get him out of prison again. His hopes are raised one year later by an appeal trial to set the record straight.

A very dense and grippingly narrated (and award-winning) film that shows Holoubek's documentary experience: everyday life in prison, helplessness and the arbitrariness of justice as well as social abysses are shown relentlessly. And when you think you can see a glimmer of hope, things only get worse.

Director's Biography:Born in Warsaw, he studied cinematography in Łódź and then worked as an independent cameraman for documentaries and television series. His first documentary won numerous prizes in 2006, and his first feature film from 2020 is on a par with this.
